Diagrams
Solo Exhibition by Alexander Wtges In-Partnership with City Arts and The Wallery Art Studio
17 June 2019 - 14 July 2021
"Diagrams" shows a selection of the most recent works by Alexander Wtges, curated by Mariela Saad El Homsi, Joel Bracho Ghersi, and Eduardo Alfaro, and presented at the Side Gallery in Downtown Art District Orlando in partnership with SoTA Collection and The Wallery Art Studio.
Alexander Wtges is a Panamanian artist and graphic designer. His work is based on different concepts of design and architecture. He represents elements of nature through the grid and the basic forms of geometry, creating a link between the forgotten knowledge of antiquity and the utopian ideologies of modernity where numbers and proportions create order and balance. He has worked and exhibited with galleries in America, Europe, and Asia.
In this exhibition, Wtges presents works from his series Diagramas, Islas, and Elementos (Diagrams, Islands, and Elements), in which the grid is appreciated as the structuring base of his compositions. The geometry that he receives as a modern heritage is transformed into a contemporary language by the freedom in the use of colors and textures and the arrangement of elements under an aesthetic of the fragment.
Downtown Art District is a non-profit arts organization serving the Central Florida community. It shows local and international art at the many art galleries and performance venues located throughout downtown Orlando.
